Here's a look at Moonshot Initiative's Galentine's Day mixer, where filmmakers expanded their network at a beautiful penthouse location
In the gig-based film and television industry, building a strong network is vital to creating a lasting career.
That's why Moonshot Initiative (formerly Women's Weekend Film Challenge) hosts mixers so that our community can meet creatives and filmmakers in every role of production in a casual, relaxed environment.
On Feb. 13, 2024, we hosted our second annual Galentine's Day networking event. The skyline views were unparalleled, because Motion Picture Enterprises (MPE) generously hosted us in their beautiful Penthouse 45 space in Midtown Manhattan. The day started with wintry weather, but the skies had luckily cleared by the time our event began, and guests could gaze at the snow-dusted city from the penthouse balcony.
It was a packed house, and we saw our community make tons of great connections throughout the evening.
We had a wine and chocolate tasting, with chocolates donated by Chocolove. Guests enjoyed chocolate filled with caramel, almond butter, and peanut butter paired with a selection of red, white, and rosé wines.
To break the ice, we had a "Find Your Pair" game, where attendees had a mystery sticker on their backs with either name of a director or TV show creator, or the title of a film or TV series. First, they had to figure out the name or title on their backs by asking other guests for hints. Then, they had to search the room for their perfect match — for example, the director of the movie taped to their back!
The event concluded with a raffle drawing, with attendees winning prizes from AbelCine, Western Digital, Gotham Sound, and City Winery.
This event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, Cinelease and Resorts World.

Thank you again to Motion Picture Enterprises (MPE), Penthouse 45, Cinelease, Resorts World, Chocolove, and raffle donors AbelCine, Western Digital, Gotham Sound, and City Winery. And a big thank you to our event volunteers, Andrea, Maria, Hackett, and Suzy.
